M.L.K. Scholarship

Each year scholarships are provided to high school seniors wanting to further their education through either a 4 year college degree, a 2 year associates degree or a certified trade program.  The criteria used to select scholarship recipients are as follows:

  • Good grades, as indicated through school transcripts.
  • Involvement in extracurricular and/or work activities.
  • Financial need, based on the income guidelines printed on the application.
  • An original essay, poem, drawing, etc. of the work and accomplishments of Dr. King

Applications are available at the guidance office of all local high schools or can be obtained from the AVAC office. Applications are typically available from February through April.

Since 1967 there have been 200 scholarships awarded!
