Hospital Chaplaincy Program
|
AVAC provides a chaplaincy program to the patients of Alle-Kiski Medical Center. The program is twofold, serving local churches and pastors as well as patients. Patients admitted to the hospital are asked if they want the AVAC to notify their pastor. Each day AVAC calls churches with the names of any congregation members who have been admitted. The program also recruits and trains pastors to serve as volunteer chaplains. Any patient requesting a visit is referred to our Volunteer Chaplain-of-the-Week who visits on a daily basis. In 2008 the AVAC made over 800 phone calls to area churches to inform them of congregation members admitted to the hospital. If you would like more information regarding this program or are interested in becoming one of our volunteer chaplains contact the Hospital Chaplaincy Coordinator |
