Walk for Hunger

This 5K walk each fall is a community response to hunger in the Allegheny Valley. Walkers from local churches and the community collect pledges to support the fight against hunger. The walk begins at the Heights Plaza and proceeds through the streets of Natrona Heights then through Brackenridge and back through the Heights. The finish line is Faith Lutheran Church, where walkers share an after-walk celebration. The 2006 Walk for Hunger had more than 142 walkers from 14 churches and raised $11,160. Bull Creek Presbyterian Church was the winner of the annual Walk for Hunger Trophy, raising a whopping $3,387! Contact the AVAC office for more information about next fall's Walk for Hunger.
